STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP, INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY COOPERATION ARE THE KEY THEMES FOR THE STRONG UNITED KINGDOM PRESENCE AT MILIPOL 2018
Strategic Partnership, Innovation and Technology cooperation are the main themes as UK security companies once again visit Qatar to showcase world leading capabilities in the law enforcement and security sectors at Milipol 2018. The significant UK presence reflects the ongoing strong commitment that UK companies have to supporting the Qatari security and cyber sector. The recent decision by Qatar to select the Typhoon aircraft also demonstrates the important defence relationship.
UK companies are looking to enhance opportunities in Qatar via industrial partnerships and long-term joint ventures. The UK is keen to share its experience in managing major sporting events, following the success of the recent Rugby World Cup, Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games. The UK has also extensive experience in cyber security and has established a UK Cyber Security Centre. The UK looks to work closely with Qatar in this important and growing sector.

“Qatar is an important strategic partner reflected by the recent decision on Typhoon and we continue to deepen and strengthen our security relationships. This includes cooperation in the cyber sector, where the UK has gained extensive experience and knowledge over the last 5 years. We welcome every opportunity to discuss shared challenges and issues faced by both our police forces and security agencies. I am very keen that UK companies look for industrial partnerships in Qatar and the region so that we can continue to share knowledge, understanding and technology in order to further strengthen our ties. The United Kingdom has a strong track record in organising major sporting events and we will continue to work with Qatar as they prepare for the 2022 World Cup and develop national security capabilities to support the wider 2030 National Vision“.
Both UK industry and the Department for International Trade´s Defence and Security Organisation look forward to a successful Milipol 2018.
